East Sumba Hit by Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was reportedly struck by a magnitude 5.1 SR tectonic earthquake earlier today at 03:13 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Fortunately, the earthquake did not trigger any tsunami warnings.
Based on the data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake was centered at 16 kilometers Southwest of East Sumba at the coordinates of -10,41 south latitude and 120,08 east longitude.
The earthquake’s hypocenter is recorded by the BMKG to be from the depths of 10 kilometers. Prior to this earthquake, a 3.1 SR earthquake had hit 8 kilometers Northwest of a small town of Kairatu, West of Seram in Maluku from the depths of 10 kilometers.
Official reports of casualties and damages on the incident has yet emerged.
